Design a hotel bedroom in the manner of Champalimaud Design, layering contemporary comfort into a period room. Keep the original architecture legible: tall sash windows with deep panelled reveals, a moulded plaster cornice, and an original timber floor with visible wear, all restored rather than replaced. Introduce clearly contemporary pieces — an upholstered bed with a tall curved headboard in a textured ochre weave, a pair of modern bedside tables in pale timber and brass, a low bench in a bold patterned fabric at the foot. Layer textiles generously: a patterned rug, heavy lined curtains with a contemporary leading edge trim, a throw and mixed cushions. Hang a group of framed prints salon-style on one wall against the period panelling. Keep the palette warm and slightly unexpected — ochre, dusty rose, deep teal, aged brass.
