Design a public artwork in which water itself is the only sculptural material. Show a long rectangular frame standing on a plaza, some fifteen metres wide and four high, made of the slimmest possible dark steel section so the frame nearly disappears, and from its upper member show a continuous unbroken sheet of water falling as a single smooth glassy plane before entering a narrow slot in the paving below. Detail the falling sheet as perfectly laminar for its upper two metres — so clear and undisturbed that the buildings behind are visible through it, slightly displaced — before breaking into a fine textured curtain lower down where air has entered it. Show a section of the sheet interrupted on demand: a two-metre gap opening in the fall, creating a dry doorway through the water that people are walking through, with the curtain closing again behind them. Detail the fine mist thrown up where the water meets the slot, hanging low around ankle height and catching light. Show the paving as dark wet stone reflecting the whole frame. Detail a rainbow forming in the mist at one end. Set it on a summer plaza with children running through the gap. Show strong sun from a low angle behind.
