Design a hotel garden in the manner of Enzo Enea, where individual specimen trees are treated as museum pieces. Place a small number of magnificent mature trees, each with a distinctive sculptural form, standing alone on a broad expanse of immaculately maintained lawn with generous space between them so each can be read as an individual object. Shape the ground into gentle sculpted mounds and hollows so the lawn itself has form. Add precise elements of hard landscape: long low walls of rusted corten steel following the contours, and a straight path of large stone slabs crossing the lawn. Keep planting otherwise almost absent — no flower beds, no shrub masses — so the trees, the grass and the ground modelling are the entire composition. Add a simple bench of solid timber placed to view one particular tree. Show early morning with low light raking across the mounds and long tree shadows on the dew-covered grass.
