Design a public artwork that gains its power from repetition rather than from any single object. Detail every figure as absolutely identical in form, casting and finish, all facing precisely the same direction, so any variation the eye finds comes only from distance, weathering and light rather than from design. Show the grid as strictly maintained regardless of the ground it crosses — running across mown lawn, over a paved path, through a shallow depression, up a slight rise — so the terrain deforms the apparent spacing while the plan stays rigid. Detail the material as cast iron with an even orange-brown rust, each figure weathering slightly differently according to its exposure, those near trees carrying green algae on their shaded side.
