Design the main lantern of a Taiwanese Lantern Festival for the Year of the Monkey, about 17 metres tall, as an articulated climbing machine. Model the monkey mid-climb on a tall open steel lattice tower, one arm reaching upward, built with visible mechanical joints at shoulder, elbow and hip that move slowly through a programmed cycle so the figure appears to climb over several minutes. Skin only the head and chest in translucent panels lit from within; leave the limbs as exposed articulated steel with visible actuators and cable runs. Run cool white LED along the tower lattice and warm amber along the monkey's frame. Add a large glowing sphere held in its free hand, pulsing slowly. Light the tower from below with beams and haze so the structure reads against the sky. Set it in a plaza with a crowd watching the movement.
