Design a hotel lobby in the manner of Champalimaud Design, layering contemporary comfort into a historic shell. Keep the original architecture visible and honoured: a moulded plaster ceiling with its cornices restored, tall original windows with deep reveals, and an existing stone floor with visible wear. Into it, introduce clearly contemporary furniture in rich fabrics — curved sofas in a dusty rose velvet, wing chairs in a bold patterned weave, a low table in polished brass and stone — arranged in intimate conversational groups rather than filling the room. Add a large-scale contemporary artwork deliberately hung against the historic panelling. Layer textiles generously: patterned rugs, heavy curtains with a contemporary trim, textured cushions. Keep the palette warm and slightly unexpected — dusty rose, ochre, deep teal, aged brass. Light from table lamps, floor lamps and one restored chandelier, warm and layered. Show late afternoon light through the tall windows. Photorealistic, layered, warm and characterful, eye-level view across the room.
