Design a public artwork that is a drawing in space rather than a solid object. Show a form some twelve metres tall described entirely by thin continuous steel rod — six-millimetre bar bent into long sweeping curves and welded into a three-dimensional outline, with no surface, no panel and no infill anywhere, so the work is nothing but line. Detail the composition as a recognisable subject rendered in the most economical possible way: the contour of a running figure, a breaking wave, a leaf, described with perhaps thirty lines total and not one more. Show the effect of viewpoint as central to the piece: from one specific angle the lines align and the subject snaps into legibility, while from anywhere else it dissolves into an abstract tangle of curves. Detail the rods as finished in a single flat white so they read as pencil strokes against whatever lies behind, and detail the welded junctions as ground smooth so the lines appear continuous and unjointed. Show the sky and buildings visible through the entire work. Detail the base as three slim rods entering the paving directly with no plate or plinth. Set it on an open plaza against an uncluttered sky. Show flat bright light. Photorealistic, linear, white lines against pale sky, low three-quarter view from the reading angle.
