Place a covered waiting area for parents and children set back from the kerb, with benches, a green screen of shrubs, and a roof providing shade and rain protection. Show a wide, generous forecourt between the gate and the sidewalk so departing children can gather without spilling into the road, separated from the carriageway by low planters and bollards.
