Design an anamorphic public artwork that resolves into a coherent image from exactly one viewing position and from nowhere else. Show a distorted painted figure stretched across a complex urban surface — running up a flight of steps, across a landing, over a low wall and onto the vertical face of a building beyond — the paint following every change of plane and every step nosing without interruption. Detail the painted shape as, in itself, wildly elongated and apparently meaningless: an enormous smeared form spanning thirty metres of ground and wall, its proportions absurd when seen in plan. Show the composition from a point clearly away from the correct viewing position, so the distortion is fully visible and the trick is exposed rather than concealed — the whole point of the image. Detail a small brass marker set into the paving some distance away, worn bright by feet, indicating where to stand, with two people queuing at it and one standing on it holding up a phone. Detail the paint as flat matte colour in two tones only, applied with no shading, its edges precisely masked as they cross from horizontal to vertical surfaces.
