Design the central courtyard of a Taiwanese residential community around a single still sheet of water. Show a broad shallow reflecting pool occupying much of the courtyard, its water only 50 millimetres deep over a dark honed stone base so the surface reads as a black mirror, held by a razor-thin flush edge with a slot overflow and no visible kerb. Detail the reflection as the design's whole content: the tower facades, the sky and a single sculptural tree doubled perfectly in the water, with the reflection interrupted only where a walker passes. Show stepping stones of thick pale granite crossing the water just above the surface, appearing to float. Detail the surrounding deck in the same pale granite with fine joints, and the planting restricted to a few large specimen trees in generous beds with a moss or fine ground cover beneath. Show the lighting as concealed uplights on the trees and a slim underwater line at the pool edge. Show dusk with the facades lit and reflected.
