Design a park bench in the optimistic mid-century manner, when outdoor furniture was suddenly made of bent tube and pressed sheet. Show a frame of slim steel tube, no more than twenty-five millimetres in diameter, bent in a single continuous run from front leg up to armrest, back over the top rail and down again, so one pipe describes the whole silhouette with only two bends visible per side. Detail the seat as a single sheet of expanded or perforated steel, pressed into a shallow curved shell that follows the sitter's back and seat in one continuous sweep, spot-welded to the tube at the minimum number of points. Show the proportions as low, wide and slightly reclined — a seat clearly intended for sunbathing and idleness rather than brief municipal rest. Detail the colour as a period pairing: a pale sky blue shell against a warm cream frame, or a soft mustard against white, the paint thin and now finely crazed. Show the legs splaying outward very slightly, and small rubber feet at their tips, perished and cracked. Set it on a concrete terrace beside a modernist park pavilion with a low planting bed.
