Design the toilet block of a motorway service area, planned around the fact that a coach arriving creates a sudden queue of forty people. Show a very wide entrance with no door and a generous circulation spine, so a queue forms inside the building rather than out in the weather. Detail an electronic occupancy display above the entrance showing how many cubicles are free, and a green or red light above each individual cubicle door visible down the whole row, so the queue self-organises without anyone checking doors. Show the cubicles as a long run of full-height units with the wash area on the opposite wall, and the circulation between them wide enough for two-way flow with luggage. Detail the wash area as a continuous counter with many taps, spaced generously to avoid a second bottleneck, and hand dryers positioned so their queue does not block the exit.
