Kinetic Sculpture: An Array of Metal Leaves Driven by Wind

Design a kinetic public sculpture driven entirely by wind, with no motor and no power supply. Show a tall slim mast some nine metres high carrying several hundred small polished stainless steel discs, each disc about a hundred and fifty millimetres across and mounted on its own tiny low-friction pivot so it can spin freely and independently in any breeze. Detail the discs as arranged in a dense helical pattern up the mast, close enough that they nearly touch but never collide, so the whole column reads as a single shimmering textured mass rather than as individual parts. Show the motion explicitly: some discs caught mid-spin and blurred, others momentarily still and mirror-sharp, a wave of movement visibly travelling up one side of the column as a gust passes through, so the wind's shape becomes visible. Detail the light behaviour as the point of the work — each spinning disc throwing a brief flash as it turns edge-on to the sun, so the column scintillates continuously with hundreds of independent glints. Show the mast itself as slender and matte dark grey, deliberately recessive. Detail a few leaves blowing past at ground level, confirming the wind. Set it on an exposed waterfront promenade.
