A Seat for One: A Space Deliberately Not Shared

Design park seating for the person who wants to be outdoors but not near anyone. Show a series of single seats, each unmistakably for one person only — a seat plane just five hundred millimetres wide with the form closing in on both sides, so a second person could not join even if they wanted to. Detail each seat as set into its own shallow alcove carved out of a run of dense planting, the shrubs grown up on three sides to shoulder height so the sitter is screened from the path and from the neighbouring seats. Show the seats spaced far apart along the planting run — eight or ten metres between them — and angled differently, each facing its own direction, so no two occupants ever meet eyes. Detail the seat itself as a simple timber wedge cantilevered from a low concrete backing wall, with a small flat ledge to one side just big enough for a cup and a book. Show one seat occupied by a solitary figure reading, the others empty, the planting between them dense enough that each reads as a separate room. Set it along a park path with tall grasses and shrubs. Show quiet overcast light. Photorealistic, private, timber in deep green planting, eye-level three-quarter view.
