Ceiling Light: Hard Light Cuts into the Courtyard

Render a Taiwanese temple courtyard at the moment when the midday sun cuts directly into it. Show the open square of sky above, and the sunlight falling as a sharply bounded rectangle onto the stone paving, its edge cutting diagonally across the incense burner and the base of the far hall's steps. Keep everything outside that bright rectangle in deep shade — the surrounding corridors almost black, the carved timber and red lanterns barely readable. Detail the lit paving so its worn texture, the grass in the joints and the burner's cast shadow are all crisp, while the shaded areas hold only faint detail. Show incense smoke drifting across the boundary between light and shade, invisible in the shadow and suddenly brilliant where it crosses into the beam. Include a worshipper standing at the edge of the light, half lit. Keep the palette to bleached stone, deep shadow, and the warm red of what little is lit.
