Design a traditional continental living room in the European Style, a room with real weight and layering. Compose it with deep-panelled dark walnut wainscoting, a carved stone fireplace and a coffered ceiling carried on substantial beams. Layer the textiles heavily: a patterned wool rug over a stone floor, lined drapes held back with tie-backs, tapestry cushions on a rolled-arm sofa.
