Intervention on Ruins: Inserting the New into the Remains

Design a public artwork installed inside an industrial ruin, where the tension between old and new does the work. Show the roofless shell of an abandoned brick factory building — walls standing to full height with empty window openings, the roof structure long gone, saplings and buddleia growing out of the wall heads, rubble and weeds across the floor. Detail the intervention as a single precise geometric object placed within it: a perfect polished form — a plain white cylinder four metres across, or a taut sheet of blue glass standing on edge — machine-finished, immaculate and utterly unlike anything around it, set deliberately off-centre in the ruined space. Show the contrast as total: every surface of the ruin is rough, broken, weathered and irregular, while the inserted object has no texture, no wear and no visible fixing, appearing to have been set down that morning. Detail the object as not touching the walls anywhere, standing free on the rubble floor with a clean gravel bed cleared around its base. Show daylight pouring in through the missing roof and the empty windows, striking the object and bouncing bright light onto the brick. Set it in a decaying industrial complex. Show strong midday sun. Photorealistic, contrasting, pristine white against broken brick, eye-level three-quarter view.
