Daytime Solid, Nighttime Frame: Two Faces of the Same Work
Prompt
Design a public sculpture that reverses itself between day and night, shown at the transitional moment when both readings are simultaneously visible. Show a large open geometric framework some ten metres tall — an angular assembly of straight members forming an irregular polyhedral cage — whose members are square hollow sections finished in matte black, so by daylight it reads as a dark solid drawing of lines against the sky. Detail the night behaviour as built into those same members: a continuous LED strip recessed into a slot along one face of every member, invisible when off, so after dark the entire framework becomes a cage of glowing lines and the black metal disappears completely. Show the moment of dusk with both states present at once — the sky still holding enough light for the black members to read as silhouette, while the LED lines have already come on and glow strongly along their edges, giving each member a bright side and a dark side. Detail the ground as picking up the first faint light from the piece. Show two figures beneath for scale. Detail the sky as a deep gradient from orange at the horizon to indigo above. Set it on an open waterfront plaza. Photorealistic, transitional, glowing lines on black against dusk, low upward three-quarter view.
