Design a Staircase in the Wabi Sabi style, from thick solid timber treads showing knots, checks and saw texture, set directly into a hand-troweled clay plaster wall that still carries the trowel marks. Leave one side without any balustrade and give the other only a rope or a worn timber rail. Keep the palette to clay, ash and warm timber with no white and no metal shine.
