Sky Lobby: A Metropolitan Resort with the Imagery of a Giant Lantern

Design a high-rise urban hotel lobby in the manner of Kerry Hill, where a vast lantern-like void becomes the whole room. Show a soaring double-height volume near the top of a tower, its centre occupied by an enormous suspended box of translucent washi-like paper stretched over a slim dark timber frame, glowing softly from within and reaching almost floor to ceiling. Let that single object provide most of the light in the room. Surround it with a calm horizontal composition: a dark timber floor, low modern seating in undyed linen arranged symmetrically, and a continuous datum line at door head height. Open one full side as floor-to-ceiling glazing onto the city, dressed only in a sheer scrim so the skyline reads as a soft grey field rather than a spectacle.
