Seaside Public Toilet: Showers, Foot Washing, and Salt Damage Countermeasures

Design a beach toilet and changing facility built to survive salt, sand and wet feet. Show the building raised on a plinth half a metre above the sand with a wide ramped approach, so drifting sand does not enter and the floor stays above wind-blown spray. Detail an outdoor rinse zone along the front — a row of foot showers at ankle height and two full showers, all on a slatted timber deck over a sand trap with a removable grating so sand is caught before it reaches the drains. Show the changing cubicles as generous, with a slatted bench, hooks and a mirror, their doors louvred for drying airflow. Detail every fitting as marine grade: 316 stainless fixings, anodised aluminium frames, no mild steel anywhere, and timber that weathers rather than rots. Show the walls in fair-faced concrete with a heavy cover to the reinforcement and no exposed steel, its surface already lightly weathered. Detail a deep roof overhang against sun.
