Site-Specific Creation: Two Schools of Thought Compete on the Same Stage

Show the interior of a Taiwanese temple built by two rival teams of craftsmen, each given one half of the same hall and working in competition. Compose the image straight down the central axis so both halves are visible at once and the differences are unmistakable: on one side the bracket sets are dense, exuberant and deeply undercut with many small figures; on the other they are more restrained, squarer and more geometric, with broader plain surfaces. Show the same difference carried through the carved beam panels, the lion blocks and the column bases — every paired element subtly unlike its opposite number. Keep the overall dimensions, materials and colours identical so the eye reads it as one building with two personalities rather than two buildings.
