Circulation of Compression and Release: Low Corridor Connecting to High Hall

Design a hotel circulation sequence in the manner of Jean-Michel Gathy, built on deliberate manipulation of ceiling height. Show a long gallery with a deliberately low dark ceiling, its walls in dark timber battens lit only by a continuous slot at floor level, so the corridor feels intimate and slightly compressed. At its end, show the ceiling lift dramatically into a tall volume where daylight falls from a concealed clerestory onto a single monumental stone wall. Keep the floor material continuous through both to reinforce the contrast. Place one long bench of solid stone at the transition point. Use no artwork, no signage, no plants — only the geometry, the materials and the light. Show a lone figure walking through the low section toward the bright volume, giving scale to the change. Keep the palette entirely dark timber, dark stone and warm concealed light. Photorealistic, atmospheric and controlled, eye-level view along the corridor toward the tall space.
