Street Tree Connected Pits: Root Space and Permeable Soil

Illustrate a Taiwanese street where individual tree pits have been replaced by one continuous planting trench running the length of the block, giving the street trees a shared root volume. Render the trench as a linear strip about 1.5 metres wide along the kerb, filled with structural soil and topped with a low groundcover of dwarf mondo grass and ferns, edged by a flush granite band rather than a raised kerb. Show the trees as healthy mature natives with full crowns — Taiwan sweetgum or camphor — clearly larger and better formed than the stunted specimens typical of isolated pits. Include a cutaway or partial section at the near edge of the frame showing the soil profile below: structural soil, aeration pipe and root barrier against the pavement build-up. Keep the adjacent sidewalk surface flat and uncracked to show the trench has solved root heave. Place a bicycle parked against a rail, a resident sitting on the trench edge, and dappled shade across the paving. Bright late-morning light, eye-level three-quarter view down the street, realistic and technical but still attractive.
