Maximalist Narrative Hotel Lobby: Plants, Color, and Collections

Design a resort hotel lobby in the manner of Bill Bensley, unapologetically maximalist and full of story. Fill the space with layered pattern and colour: hand-painted wall murals in botanical themes, patterned encaustic floor tiles in bold geometry, striped awnings and canopies indoors, and an abundance of tropical plants in mismatched antique pots reaching the ceiling. Add a dense collection of curiosities — vintage travel trunks, brass instruments, framed botanical prints hung salon-style, taxidermy-free curiosity cabinets, old maps. Furnish with a mixture of rattan peacock chairs, deep buttoned sofas in a saturated emerald, and carved timber tables from several traditions. Hang oversized ceiling fans and clusters of coloured glass lanterns. Keep the colour palette rich and confident — emerald, saffron, coral, teal — with no neutrals at all.
