Year of the Dragon Main Lantern・Tech Style: Spiraling Steel Structure and Flowing Light Strips

Design the main lantern of a Taiwanese Lantern Festival for the Year of the Dragon, about 22 metres tall, as a spiralling technological structure. Coil the dragon's body upward around an invisible axis in a continuous helix of slim steel ribs, each rib a slightly different size so the spiral tapers, with translucent panels only on the upper face so the form reads as a ribbon of light climbing into the sky. Run addressable LED along every rib, programmed so a wave of light travels continuously from tail to head, giving the impression of movement without any moving parts. Model the head in faceted mirror steel with two intense beam lights as eyes. Mount a haze and beam system at the base so vertical shafts of light rise through the spiral. Set it on a dark circular platform with a ring of ground-recessed uplights. Show a clear night with the light wave mid-travel and a crowd below. Photorealistic, dynamic, luminous and monumental, low eye-level view looking up the spiral.
