Timber Public Toilets: Grilles, Ventilation, and Warm Public Facilities

Design a public toilet in timber, resolving the tension between warmth and durability. Show a light frame of glulam posts and beams left fully exposed, infilled with vertical timber battens spaced to different densities — close and near-solid at the cubicle walls, wide and open at the circulation and the vent zones — so the whole building reads as one screen of varying transparency. Detail the timber as a durable species left untreated to silver naturally, with the ground contact avoided entirely by a galvanised steel shoe raising every post 150 millimetres clear of a concrete plinth.
