Maximalist Restaurants: Totems, Colors, and Curated Displays

Design a resort restaurant in the manner of Bill Bensley, maximalist and full of narrative. Cover the walls in hand-painted murals of botanical and wildlife themes in saturated colour, and the floor in bold patterned encaustic tiles laid in a strong geometric repeat. Fill the room with collected objects arranged densely: framed botanical prints hung salon-style to the ceiling, antique glass domes with curiosities, brass instruments, old luggage stacked as a console. Furnish with rattan peacock chairs, deep buttoned banquettes in emerald velvet, and carved timber tables from mixed traditions. Hang clusters of coloured glass lanterns at varying heights and oversized ceiling fans with dark timber blades. Add abundant potted tropical plants in mismatched glazed pots. Keep the palette rich and unafraid — emerald, saffron, coral, teal — with no neutral surfaces at all. Show warm evening lighting from the lanterns with everything glowing.
