Neo-Chinese Living Room: Contemporary Simplification of Traditional Symbols

Design a contemporary living room in the new chinese style, abstracting traditional Chinese elements rather than reproducing them. Compose it around a moon gate reduced to a plain circular opening cut through a plaster wall, a screen of slim vertical timber battens standing in for carved latticework, and a low black-stained console whose joinery is clean and openly visible.
