Covering the Existing City: A New Roof Integrates Old Neighborhoods

Design an urban intervention in the manner of Paulo Mendes da Rocha that leaves the existing historic buildings entirely intact and simply throws one enormous new roof over the whole block, converting the leftover space between them into a single sheltered public room.
